2008 NFL Answer Key
September 2nd, 2008 by Cliffy
Okay, time to get on record, people.
Who ya got? Here’s what my crystal ball tells me:
AFC
Division winners: Pats, Browns, Colts, Chargers
Wild Card: Bills, Jaguars
AFC Championship Game: Pats over Jaguars
NFC
Division winners: Cowboys (though I hope I’m wrong), Packers, Saints, Cardinals (as long as Warner doesn’t get hurt)
Wild Card: Eagles, Buccaneers
AFC Championship Game: Saints over Cowboys
Super Bowl (same prediction as last year, fwiw): Pats over Saints
I have spoken… what say the rest of you?

I like the Houston pick WC pick as the “off the wall” pick. Interesting. Three of the four WCs from the respective South divisions in the two conferences… no geographic bias there, eh?
You like my Buccaneer-for-playoffs pick, though? Sure, I only get them in as a wild card… but still… I’ve got ‘em in.

just read the SportsGuys column and it seems he agrees with me. Indy will fade this year (no surprise he would pick that)….and he also has Jax over Dal….and he agrees on the Jets. Most surprisingly the semi-homer isn’t taking the Pats…what the hell.

Minny in the SB? Wow. Depending on how you rank them - Tavaris Jackson would easily replace Rex Grossman as the worst QB to start a SB… ever. He is horrible. They have a nice defense and a nice running game… but I just can’t get my head around Tavaris Jackson leading them to a Super Bowl. That said, like Grossman a couple years ago, all he has to do is beat the rest of the flotsam in the NFC… so I suppose anything is possible.
As to Danny’s pick of the Jets in the playoffs, I’ll gladly pounder that with any and all who want a piece of that action. Favre had a terrific regular season last year, and will likely finish in the top half of QBs this year… but the Jets aren’t making it.
I have Jax going to the AFC Championship Game, so wouldn’t be surprised to see them in the SB. I like their team and their coach a lot. Arizona to the NFC Championship Game? Interesting. Under the same theory that has Tavaris Jackson in the SB, anything is possible in the NFC I guess. As I guy who has Warner and Boldin in all three FF leagues, and Fitzy in 1/3… I’ll be happy if they play that well, that’s for sure.
If anyone wants to offer it, I’ll take 3:1 odds that *neither* NY team makes the playoffs (i.e. I put up one, you put up three). I know the Jets won’t get there. The Giants looked very good last night, but I suspect that’s more a referendum on the ineptitude of the Redskins (and the emotion of the night, celebrating the SB win with the home fans) than anything else. I can certainly see the Giants getting to the playoffs… I’m just willing to bet (with odds) that they don’t.
