Jesse Jackson weighs in on Lebron… thank goodness

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Well, thankfully, we’ve finally heard the Reverend Jesse Jackson’s always-insightful analysis of the Lebron situation:

Much analysis has been offered regarding Dan Gilbert’s post-Decision outburst, but leave it to Jesse to get to the heart of the matter:  “He sees Lebron as a runaway slave.”  Wow. (more…)

NBA Player “Collusion”

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

So Lebron, Bosh and Wade may or may not have had a “Summit” in Miami last weekend and/or they may or may not have spoken/met previously and/or since.  The papparazzi are all abuzz because it appears as though these top FAs may be colluding and conspiring to play together and form a “superteam”.  What amazes me is some folks seem genuinely upset about this.  To wit: (more…)

If it ain’t broke… still try to squeeze more money out of it

Monday, March 15th, 2010

So it seems a fait accompli that the Big Dance is going to 96 teams.  I was annoyed when it went to 65, replete with the dumb play-in game, but whatever… what’s one inconsequential game in the grand scheme of things?  Not enough to complain about.  But 96 teams instead of 64… er, 65?  Enough to complain about.

So Cornell gets 12th seed

Monday, March 15th, 2010

[Ed. note: Written by Gonzo, posted here by Cliffy - since Gonzo is apparently more computer illiterate than even Cliffy, and still hasn’t mastered the difficult process involved in posting to OGS.  He’s welcome… again.]

Pretty reasonable. I suppose a good argument could have been made for an 11 (yes, Minnesota I am looking in YOUR direction) and there was some guy on CBS who said he could have seen them get a 10, but all in all not too bad.

Should be a good game. Hopefully they pull it off. They ARE getting some love from the pundits (as much love as a 12 can get, anyway) - most have been calling out this game specifically as an intriguing matchup, and some are even picking Cornell!

I heard Bill Self on Dan Patrick’s show this morning, and he specifically mentioned Cornell as a team to watch (not suprising it was him that said it, given he saw them up close and personal).

Not related to Cornell, but my local paper predicted MORGAN STATE to make the Sweet 16. That’s pretty fucking bold, considering the 15 has won what, a grand total of 3 times since the format went to 64? Nevermind actually winning TWO games.

Usqueuque idem eadem idem

I stared at the TV for a while.  Then, I stared some more with my hands wrapped around my face.  Karen said something to me.  I didn’t hear her and I didn’t acknowledge her.  I shuffled listlessly to the kitchen and reached into the cabinet, like countless times before.

Just not the Lakers… please

Friday, May 29th, 2009

A lifelong Celtics fan, before the playoffs, I resigned myself to the fact that the Celtics wouldn’t repeat.  Barring a miracle, I decided I’d like to see Lebron lead the Cavs to a title in the alternative.  But if Lebron can’t/doesn’t, then I’m left with… just not the Lakers please.  I suspect I’m not alone among Celtics fans - as the Lakers are a longtime rival and natural “enemy”.

Every NBA season, I have two desires, in this order:  (1) Celtics win the title, or at least (2) Lakers don’t win the title.

Separated at Birth?

Monday, May 4th, 2009

I’d like some feedback… is it just me, or were Hedu Turkoglu and our own Dan Einhorn indeed twins separated at birth?  Seriously.  The Celtics and Magic are on again Wednesday night.  Tune in.  I defy you to look at Turkoglu and tell me you don’t see Danny.  I know I do… but maybe that’s just me.

Johnny Five need input.

Celtics-Bulls

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Much has been said and written about the Bulls-Celtics series (currently tied 2-2) - and I don’t have much to add, except to post two points in this forum for those who may not be paying attention:
