It’s Millar Time
So Fox has Kevin Millar record the following bit, exhorting Sox fans to get behind their team that was down 3-1 at the time:

Then he’s in the Sox dugout before game 7, throws out the first pitch, and introduces the Sox starting lineup for Fox viewers.
I’ve heard some this morning express shock and dismay. Um… why? I’ve heard that its wrong since he’s an Oriole now. Well the Sox did ask (and were granted permission by) the Orioles beforehand - so what’s the problem if this is how he chooses to spend his offseason, while his teammates go golfing, fishing, spending quality time with family, or just sweating it out until the next round of HGH delivery addresses breaks.
First, regarding the Fox promo/video, he refers to “we” when discussing the 2004 team - which, um… he was one of the “we” in question. Then regarding the 2007 Sox, he specifically says “you” speaking to the fans - and infers “they”, speaking about the team. If they got him in a coat and tie (good luck with that) and sat him next to Frank Thomas and Cal Ripken, and asked him about the Sox chances of coming back from down 3-1, he woulda said the exact same thing in the exact same way.
Second, regarding the game 7 stuff, big deal. I don’t really understand *why* the Sox asked him (over countless other possibilities) - but they did, so he took the opportunity to go back to his old stomping grounds and have some fun on a Sunday evening in Boston.
I fail to see how any of this is an affront to his Oriole teammates, his Oriole organization, or MLB - as has been suggested.
What exactly is the big deal?
