Manny was found (and admitted) to have taken HcG - banned because aside from it's common use for women trying to get pregnant (which I believe we can safely say Manny was not taking it for that), it's also used at the end of steroids cycles to get the testerone level back to normal. To that end, it can apparently also be presribed for males with "performance" problems (playing the field, not on the field)... and according to Boras... er, Manny's statement, *that* is what Manny was taking it for. Um... yeah - right. As for an appeal... nope - Boras... er, Manny's statement said he would not appeal and would start serving immediately, after saying it was his physician's mistake for prescribing it to him (for his "performance" issues). Manny (and Boras) were given the list of banned substances - but someone his doctor is to blame for not knowing what was on that list of banned substances. Who's the bigger clown in all this: (a) Manny, (b) Boras, or (c) all the Manny apologists who believe his story? Also: I guess everyone in MLB can stop the snide dismissals of Jose Canseco now? If they really want to rid baseball of steroids then they really have to concede he has performed a service, no?
