Rioting in Montreal… after a first-round victory?

Huh? The Canadiens have won 22 Cups in their long and illustrious history, but haven’t won one since 1993. Still… they just won a *first*-round series, where they were the #1 seed. They beat the Bruins, who were easily the worst team (out of sixteen) to make the playoffs. Yes, the Bruins and Habs have a long and heated rivalry, and the Bruins showed they were game, winning Games 5 and 6 in dramatic fashion fo force a Game 7. But… the Bruins just aren’t that good.
If this was six years ago, when the 8th-seeded Canadiens took out the top-seeded Bruins in the first round? Okay… I could understand some… er, overexuberance - especially since the Canadiens had missed the playoffs the previous three seasons. But… nothing.
Now the Canadiens “fans” act like Pistons fans after an NBA Championship… just for advancing to the second round? Geez… they better call in the Mounties if the Canadiens actually win the second round and advance to the conference finals, eh?
For the record, I’m pretty confident the “fans” that did most/all of the rioting were not hockey fans any more than Marge Simpson was a bowler when Homer bought her a bowling ball for her birthday one year (engraved with “Homer” of course) - but rather said “fans” were simply bored malcontents looking for something to do last night. But still, it seems clear that Montreal’s law enforcement needs to be better prepared for the rest of the playoffs - cuz these Canadiens are very good, and are likely to indeed win at least one more playoff round.
