Save Rule - just another reasons it’s worthless

Last week, Jonathon Broxton of the Dodgers came into a game with the Yankees in the 9th inning with a 4 run lead. The Yankees scored 4 runs to tie it up. (Yankees won in extra innings) Broxton did not get a blown save. It wasn’t a “save situation” originally, therefore there was no “save” to officially blow.
So even though he blew the game for his team in the ninth inning, he still “only” has 2 blown saves on the season. Yup… makes perfect sense to me.

Agreed, emphatically. It is such a lousy stat that I would argue the baseball world would be enriched if everyone agreed to never speak of it again.

That’s definitely one option. Treat it like the “fifth Beatle”. Sure, sure… some historians and trivia buffs can come up with the name, but most people aren’t really even aware of its existence. The Save Rule is the Pete Best of Baseball… yes, I guess that’s what I’m saying.

And the Designated Hitter is Yoko Ono.

Perhaps… if you feel that Lennon did better after the Beatles were torn asunder. To wit: The AL routinely rules interleague play, and since the 1980s (IIRC), has ruled the ASG. So… the DH has taken MLB and torn it asunder, but the DH’s paramour appears to be better off for the decision, no?
