The New Phone Books Are Here! The New Phone Books Are Here!

March 2nd, 2007 by Tank

Not quite, but I was nearly as gleeful as Navin Johnson was when he got the new phone book, to receive the 2007 Baseball Prospectus in time for the weekend. Just cracking it open to the important part, they offer a positive spin on the Yankees’ front office (I naturally, and with understandable alacrity, turned on the Weather Channel to see if Hell had, in fact, frozen over), and save me the trouble of writing a defense of ARod by producing a more thorough one than I could aspire to. Bottom line - while his post-season performance has been disappointing, he has gotten a bad rap here in New York from fans, media and teammates alike.

Navin R. Johnson… you random bastard.

Just received my copy yesterday. I have only gotten through the NL Central, but I find the book very disappointing to date. Why does it take so long for the book to come out, yet be so completely out of date. The Brewers article is a joke, and reads as if it was written in November.

Also, I haven’t laughed out loud yet…..we’ll see.

Anyone notice that one of the senior editors is a woman, who started writing for BP as a guy? Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Actually pretty cool that it seems to be a non-issue. Just nobody tell Tim Hardaway.
