The Phelps Saga Continues

February 10th, 2009 by Tank

Seth Meyers had a great take on L’Affaire Phelps on SNL

Meanwhile, a latter-day Buford T. Justice has thus far arrested eight people who may have also shaken society to its foundation by smoking cannabis. It really doesn’t seem like an optimal use of scare public resources to me.

Tried to access the Seth Myers bit, but alas, I was met with this:

“This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by NBC Universal.”

Big Brother is always watching, eh? Or at least, always checking out YouTube to see what copyrighted stuff they’re trying to share with the masses.

This link to hulu.com should work:

    Very nice.

“If you’re kid says he wants to smoke weed cuz Michael Phelps did… then say okay - just as soon as he wins twelve gold medals for his country… like Michael Phelps did.”… really.

“If you’re a party and you see Michael Phelps smoking a bong, and you don’t think, ‘Wow, I get to hang out with Michael Phelps’ but instead think ‘Wow, I get to take his picture to sell to a tabloid’ then you’re a *dick*… really!

That moves to the top of the Really list - in a tie with the Amy Poehler and Seth Myers “Really” bit when Michael Vick got caught with pot in the airport. Very funny stuff… including, “So Mike, you hid pot - something that won’t get through airport security - in a bottle of water… something *else* that you won’t get through airport security… really?! Really!!”

“And you’re on your way home. What… you don’t have any pot at home… really?! Why did you have to bring pot on the plane with you to go home, when you should have a stash at home in the first place. Really!!”

very nice… but the Vick Really list brought me back to SNL and I have to respect that.
The take on Kellogg’s is right on… its chief demographic IS 20 yr. old pot heads. I remember my apartment had the bulk Kelloggs Corn Pops for just such an occasion… it is amazing how much of that one could eat when under the influence. The suspension is also laughable. Bud Selig should suspend ARod on November 15 for three months… that would have the same effect.
