First, I wonder if TO will be like Manny... "forced" to take a "lesser" deal when he finds only one suitor. Course, to you and me, that "lesser" deal would still be a jackpot, but I guess it's all relative. Gonzo is right (for a change) - any team getting him can likely count on a very productive, and relatively issue-free, first year. After that? Caveat emptor.

Second, Julio Franco was in the majors at age 48 (or was it 58?). I'm fairly confident that even a non-roided Bonds at age 45 can help *somebody* as a DH. As Danny notes, he's not the clubhouse cancer that TO is. By all accounts, he's an isolated, moody prick - such that he doesn't *help* clubhouse chemistry... but he doesn't necessarily hurt it, as far as I can tell. Also, football is *far* more a team game than baseball - as baseball is really a series of individual battles, more than anything. Especially given that he'd DH, he would really only be involved in roughly four individual confrontations with the opposing pitcher each game. He won't be asked to sacrifice - just go up and get on base... which I am in the camp that he will continue to do very well. Maybe not at a .500 clip (then again, maybe so) - but I'd genuinely be surprised if he fell below .400. He may not be a top-5 hitter anymore, but I fully believe he'd be (at least) a solid contributor as a full-time DH.

Third, it's clear to me that Jerry Jones is purging himself of current jerk-offs (Pacman, TO) in order to clear the runway for the next jerkoff to be signed (Vick). Am I the only one who's crystal ball is telling him so? Jones reasoning may be that his quota is one jerkoff, no more... no less. He seemed to be able to withstand TO's...um, TO-ness when Pacman wasn't around. Then the Pacman circus came to town, and Jerry actually had too much to try to deal with... so he's throwing the baby (TO) out with the bathwater (Pacman), and starting anew (with Vick). It's all just too perfect.

As a Vikings fan I derive great joy from the Cowboys' trevails, the Herschel Walker trade having been responsible for the team's only success since Roger Staubach retired. Plus, as with all right-thinking people, I find Jerry Jones to be a large flapping douchebag. (Is douchebag one word or two? Or should it be hyphenated? Though that seems so nineteenth century.)

It does seem a bit odd that *nobody* shows any interest in Bonds; given MLB's history it seems like prima facie evidence of collusion. Indeed, wouldn't it be more surprising if Bud Selig *wasn't* discouraging all teams from signing Bonds?

TO will absolutely get another job. If some team was REALLY smart, they would offer a 1 year deal, as he has done quite well in the first year with those 3 clubs (ie, keep his mouth (relatively) shut, makes nice, etc).

He won't want a 1 year deal, but given his age and history, that might be the best option for him.

Then again, Al Davis is still alive, so we can figure on him giving Owens a 3/21 deal, or something similiarly crazy.

As for Bonds - well, you know my hatred for that f$cker...

However, given he hasn't seen ML pitching for 18 months and he'll be 45 in July, I would hardly say he is a top 5 hitter anymore. Even as a DH...

I think there is a very good comparison to TO and Bonds, only in the respect of what will happen with the 2 of them regarding free agency. TO will be picked up by another team, and likely will be paid as a #1 receiver. The issue with TO, is that he makes his teammates worse. He not only devides the lockerroom, but he also hurts the team on the field with his selfishness. During games, he is in the coaches face and QBs face if he doesn't "get his". He criticizes his QBs, and has now been run out of town 3 times. Don't get me wrong, he is an unbelievable talent, and when motivated makes spectacular plays. The most impressive play all year was the tackle he made after a Green Bay interception. The pass was intended for him, and he was leveled on the play in the end zone. By the time he got up, the D-Back had a 30 yard head start, and TO still ran him down.....

Bonds, OTOH, is still a top 5 hitter in the game today and won't be touched by any MLB team for any price. What would he do as DH for TOR this year? BAL? DET?

I am not saying Bonds is a positive clubhouse guy, but he doesn't negatively effect his teamates during games.... if anything, his .500 OBP helps
