Today’s Matchup

January 20th, 2008 by shtiny

I am going to be on a plane during the undercard game.. so count me in for all San Diego and Green Bay pounders….. Including the usual Pack beats Giants by > Pats beat San Diego for 5….

Just seems like a bad matchup for the Giants.  The strength of the team is the pass rush, but there isn’t an O-Line playing any better than Green Bay right now.  They have allowed a total of 5 sacks in the last 11 games, and have 2 bookend tackles that are as good as any in the league despite what the pro-bowl voteer think.  Take into account that the weather will slow down the pass rush, and I don’t see Favre on his back all to often today.  Without the pass rush, the depleted secondary will be exposed….. Outside of stupid turnovers, I don’t see this as a close game….

Those tackles will need to be good, what with facing a pro-bowler on one side, and a HOFer on the other.

Favre doesn’t need to be on his back to have a rough day - sacks don’t tell the whole story; Giants only had 2 against Romo, but he was running for his life on just about every pass in the 4th quarter…

And why does the weather slow down the pass rush, but not GB receivers running routes?

However, with that said - I haven’t seen one “expert” pick NYG, so it should be indeed a runaway…..

Then again, not many experts picked NYG against TB and DAL, either…

Plus, Sports Guy picked GB, and he’s usually wrong - so we’ve got THAT going for us, which is nice…

    So… um… Danny… what happened?

So let’s tally… I get 5 for “win by more” bet, 1 for Giants covering, 1 for Chargers scoring no TDs - and give 1 for Chargers covering. Overall… a pretty good weekend (for a change).
