What’s dumber… or is it dumberer?

Curious for thoughts… what’s more ridiculous: (A) the “ARod cheating on his wife” thing, or (B) the “ARod cheating on the game” thing?

Or perhaps a more detailed list of selections - rank for yourself in order of stupidity, please:

(a) ARod cheating on his hot wife, (b) ARod doing it in public so that he will inevitably get caught, (c) folks acting like its shocking that a pro ballplayer is cheating on his wife, (d) the fact that apparently his wife is going to stick by him, even though he’s clearly cheating on her - heck, he’s got more strippers than “Spinal Tap” as had drummers, (e) that he yelled at the Blue Jay 3B, (f) that it actually worked, or (g) the Blue Jays acting like Jessica Lange when Tootsie revealed he was a guy, live on air.

To answer my own initial question - cheating on his hot wife in such a public fashion is far more dumberer to me than trying to distract the fielder by doing something that Cody would try to do during his Little League game.  And it’s not even close.

As for the larger/longer question, I rank them thusly:

(b) cheating in public - What?  He doesn’t think anyone will notice him… cuz he’s in a foreign country?  This just in, they now have technology that translates images from one country to another - especially when they’re right next to each other!  He needs a dose of Keith Hernandez, as in “Who does this guy think he is?”, “Hey, I’m Keith Hernandez.”  He’s Alex Rodriguez, damnit!  If you’re going to cheat on your gorgeous wife with a pro (always smarter than with a groupie, who are more apt to squeal for a book deal), then use separate elevators and order room service. *That* is what you’re supposed to do, you mo-ron!

(d) “wife standing by him” - I don’t get this.  She can have at least $100 million via divorce *and* maintain her dignity.  Although, Kobe at best committed adultery and at worst committed rape, and one $4 million ring kept his wife in tow… so perhaps I shouldn’t be so surprised.

(a) “cheating on hot wife” - Why would you risk that?  Seriously.  Perhaps she’s a raving bitch and he can’t stand her, but a public affair with a stripper is the way to handle it?  And if she’s actually a nice, bright chick who also happens to be gorgeous (not to mention the mother of his child, fwiw), then… um… what?!

(f) “the distraction worked” - I saw Fernando Vina on ESPN and he flatly said, “Howie Clark should be embarassed.”  I agree with him.  Apparently ARod didn’t even yell “I got it” or anything close to that, but rather just “Hah!”.  C’mon….

(g) “the Blue Jays reaction” - I struggle to believe this is the first time a Blue Jays opponent has yelled something on the basepaths to try and distract/confuse a player.  These are pro ballplayers who presumably (i) know each other’s voices, and/or (ii) have discussed what would be said in a given situation, and/or (iii) that it’ll repeatedly be said, rather than just once.

(e) “ARod yelled” - it is bush league in that I can’t believe it would work in the majors.

(c) “pro athlete cheating on wife” - , people have to be complete morons to actually be surprised by this

That’s my take.  What’s yours?

Not to defend ARod’s behavior, but when I read about this in the Post, the thing that really surprised me was that they would spend a night tailing him and then publish it like it was earth-shattering news. It’s not like he’s ever held himself out as a saint, so it just seems rather vindictive on the part of the Post.

What are the odds that the Post sold more papers that day than any other NY paper? I’m not sure its vindictive as much as its… well, in the words of Michael Corleone, “It’s not personal. It’s just business.”

Btw, saw where ARod bought $6,000 in diamond rings to appease his wife - and apparently all’s well that ends well. Wow. If we are to draw any conclusions, apparently cheating on your wife with a pro isn’t that big a deal - only a $6k penalty. But cheating on your wife with a young fan and/or raping that same woman is considered almost 700x worse, requiring Kobe to hand over a $4 million diamond ring to his wife. Well, either that or Kobe’s wife is a far more effective negotiater than ARod’s wife. You be the judge.
