D'oh! Now I got it - Dragnet was the movie, Alexandra Paul was the actress and Baywatch was, of course, where she "made it"...

Joe: "I had dinner with Connie Swail last night."
Pep: "Um, Joe... don't you mean the *Virgin* Connie Swail."
[pause - raised eyebrow]
Pep: "Oh."

To redeem yourself, name the actress who played Connie Swail, nee The Virgin Connie Swail - and from whence (later in her career) most would better know her.

Ah, I know where its from now - anyone else name the movie?

"Muzz, you don't have the sense the Good Lord gave the common dog. Don't you know that's my partner?"

A relatively uninspired movie overall, but it did have its moments - and I can give you one big clue if need be.

Did I just use "the sense that the good Lord gave the common dog" twice in the same rambling missive? Wow. What is that all about?

The only possible defense for this father's actions is that he's so rife with grief that he's in a state of denial the likes of which we haven't seen since Britney lacked the sense that the good lord gave the common dog by not only marrying K-Fed and thereby ensuring she'd have to pay him when he inevitably divorced her - but also by deciding it was a good idea to have his offspring. I'm not sure if Britney will ever wake up to reality, but I hope Hancock's father eventually does - and mercifully before this lawsuit is (hopefully) laughed out of court by any quasi-sane judge so that the father is not completely embarassed by the very public realization that he's being a moron.

On a related note, what's the minimum ML salary now - almost $400k? What does a driver cost for a night on the town? Never mind that Josh Hancock had an incident only a couple weeks before his death which should've served as a wake-up call to him or somebody close to him (like, say, his dad - who maybe should sue *himself* for negligence). What will it take for *every* pro athlete to invest the $100-200k they would inevitably spend on a bitchin' new ride into an on-call limo service while they're playing?

I understand that Hancock didn't sign a Carl Pavano contract or anything, but I'm still confident he could've afforded it - as can *any* pro athlete in any of the major sports (at least). But then, sadly, Josh Hancock himself doesn't appear to have had the basic send that the good Lord gave the common dog... or else he'd still be living the dream as a pro ballplayer instead of being the subject of debates such as this.

Hey, come on, he was only 29, you can't expect him to be responsible for his own actions.

He was legally drunk, talking on his cell phone, no seat belt and had weed in his car. But yet he doesn't bear any responsibility, apparently.

And even if you take the lawsuit against the restaurant at face value, and believe that he was "constantly" given a drink during those 3.5 hours - isn't Hancock repsonsible for saying "no, thanks" at some point?

Oh, I know what must have happened - they were pulling a hazing ritual and forced him to funnel all those drinks...

I don't really agree with this attorney.

I realize I'm not your attorney, I'm saying, if I were your attorney, I would have extended the lawsuit to the following groups not mentioned in the article.

1. The inventor of Jim Beam or whatever other concoction Hancock was drinking that night.
2. The inventor of the automobile. Without that invention, this never would have happened.
3. Martin Cooper, the inventor of the cellphone that Hancock was using at the time of his death.

I mean isn't this week 1 material?

I love the last line of the article: "including any legal actions necessary against those who contributed to the untimely and unnecessary death."

Can you sue the victim?
